Two Rivers Paper Company is one of the last traditional handmade paper mills in England and one of very few in the world. Heritage Crafts recognises our skills as being critically endangered. We believe that what we do here in West Somerset is worth preserving.

We are a small team of skilled craftspeople who make cotton and linen paper by hand, much as it has been made for centuries.

Every sheet is handmade using wooden moulds and deckles, giving each piece of paper feathery deckle edges and a surface texture entirely unique to Two Rivers. Our watercolour paper is acid-free and archival quality. It is strong enough to handle scrubbing and reworking and is suitable for a wide range of art media.

We are proud to have been named Heritage Crafts Maker of the Year in 2019, to have won the Made in Britain Award in 2020, and to have had our apprenticeship programme supported by the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust.

Our range of artists’ papers includes various sheet size options in 140lb (310gsm), 200lb (410gsm) and 300lb (640gsm) weights, alongside sketchbooks, printmaking paper, square and full imperial sheets, and our Heritage range of Girtin, Cox and Turner papers.

a very good alternative to the Turner/Cox range of paper when out of stock. As ever the top notch paper making result means that watercolour works can be washed out and worked over again. The texture makes all the right marks and without this any modern machine made paper is hopeless for making good beautiful work than can compete with any historic master works.
