Handmade cotton and linen rag watercolour paper, recreating the tones and surfaces familiar to artists working in the late 18th century.
The Turner shade ~ is a blue-grey paper flecked with fragments of unbleached linen fibre, each sheet has its own character. The surface is beautiful to work on and is suitable for a wide range of media. Made from cotton and linen rags, tub-sized with a natural deckle on one short edge of each sheet.
Girtin Antique Cream Laid ~ These papers are a cool cream shade, flecked with fragments of unbleached hemp fibre and blue / grey linen rag.
As with all handmade paper, there may be slight variations in tone between batches, which we try to keep to a minimum.

Questions about our Paper?
All our products are handmade by skilled craftspeople using traditional methods. Each sheet is created from a blend of cotton and linen that has been broken down into individual fibres using the mill’s Hollander beaters.
The gentle air-drying process and gelatine sizing enhance the paper’s strength. Our sizing method allows artists to easily manipulate paint on the surface, or even to remove it. The paint does not absorb into the paper, allowing the pigment to dry to a sharp, brilliant finish. The entire making process, from start to finish, takes 3 to 4 working days.
Made in small batches at our mill in Watchet, Somerset. Suitable for watercolour, acrylics, oils, pastels, printmaking, and photographic processes.
