Two Rivers Paper

300lb Full Imperial Cotton Rag Paper – 4 Sheet Pack

300lb Full Imperial Cotton Rag Paper – 4 Sheet Pack

TR Original Cotton and Linen 300lb (630gsm) ~ Full Imperial Sheet Pack

Four sheets of our heaviest standard-weight paper.

56 x 76cm with four natural deckle edges.

Tough enough to handle watercolour, acrylics, oils, mixed media, pastels and many printmaking processes. The inclusion of linen creates a tough surface that can be reworked without breaking down. Tub-sizing allows paint and pigments to dry to a sharp, bright finish.

The texture of the paper increases with sheet weight: Our 140lb (310 gsm) paper has a smoother surface than the 300lb (630 gsm) paper.

Handmade in Somerset from our cotton and linen mix.

Questions about our Paper?

Our 300lb Full Imperial is the heaviest sheet we make at our largest size.

Made by hand at our mill in Watchet, Somerset, from cotton and linen fibre prepared in our Hollander beaters and formed on traditional moulds and deckles.

At 630 gsm, the sheet has the most textured surface of our three main weights and the stability to handle generous washes, repeated reworking, and wet scrubbing without buckling or breaking down. Gelatine tub-sizing keeps paint workable on the surface and allows pigment to dry to a sharp, vivid finish.

It takes around three to four working days from raw fibre to finished sheet. Suitable for watercolour, acrylics, oils, pastels, printmaking, and photographic processes.

Both weights of this superb paper are very popular with the members of my art group. It is ideal for watercolours as the colours stay bright, but the paint can literally be washed off if all goes pear-shaped! It’s a good ground for acrylic paint too. I love the deckle edges and leave them revealed when I frame a painting that I’ve done on Two Rivers paper.
